Our Spring 2009 meeting was held on board HMS Belfast, LONDON, SE1 on Thursday 21st May 2009.

A very healthy 40 delegates registered to attend and of those, 33 actually attended, a proportion better than previous meetings.

The plenary sessions were:

bulletBack to basics - UDI design
bulletEntities and UDIs
bulletWeb Utilities in Action
bulletDUG Posting spreadsheet
bulletDUG Budget Maintenance
bulletBack to basics - structure of Dream

Feedback from delegates (out of 5) was:

bulletOne session received just 3.4;
bulletThe other five sessions all received over 4.0

As well as the usual welcome and website update, attendees had the opportunity to wander round HMS Belfast and look at the exhibitions on board.

For half an hour the meeting broke out into two sessions: one on Upgrading and the other on Purchasing.

Sadly there was no champagne prize this time as nobody has put any KPRs on the website.

We are very much indebted to Mike Booty for all the preparatory work he did for the meeting, and for his presentation.

The presentations we have in soft copy are available in the members' website in the Spring 2009 meeting data folder.

Feedback about the meeting itself from attendees (only about half of whom left us feedback) was:

bullet The venue received an average score of 4.7 (out of 5) - up 0.1
bullet The catering received an average score of 4.3 (out of 5) - down 0.3
bullet The location received an average score of 4.5 (out of 5) - up 0.1
bullet The organisation received an average score of 4.5 (out of 5) - up 0.1
bullet The event format received an average score of 4.4 (out of 5) - up 0.1

It appears to have been a popular venue with most attendees. The score for the catering seems to have been slightly perverse, as everyone we spoke to thought the food was fabulous. The mini-sausage and chips dishes were a huge hit. We are obviously starting to expect too much!

One attendee said we should have laid on snacks for when you arrived. That we will do for next time.

Julian Harvey (of the Imperial War Museum, and linked to live data) talks about Web Utilities in Action.
Jon Sebright and Chris Stedham of Bath Spa University talk about the use of virtual entities in UDIs.
