System Requirements Installation Using The Program Licensing And Configuration Release History

The INDEPENDENT user group for users of CODA's DREAM accounting software.

Dream Requirements

You must be using Dream version 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3. Earlier versions are not supported. Any new versions of Dream will be supported as soon as possible.

The program will only work with Dream on Microsoft SQL Server (versions 2000 and 2005) at present. It should work with Microsoft SQL Server 2008, but this has not been tested yet. It will not work on Oracle. If there is demand for this, we will arrange to make the program work with Oracle.

Network Requirements

Your users' PCs must be able to communicate in both directions with the following URL:

Client PC Requirements

This program requires you to have Dream 3.1 to 3.3 installed, including the External DLL. You will be warned if you don't have the correct files installed. Note that you don't need to set the "Environment Path" of your PC to include the Dream program folder. This program finds the necessary folder.

In addition, all our dot Net Windows applications require your PC to be set up as follows:

bullet

You must be using Windows XP or later;

bullet

You must have Office 2003 or 2007 installed (not earlier versions), including MS Outlook;

bullet

Office must be installed with dot net support - see below;

bullet

You must have the Suddensource Prerequisites installed (this loads the dot net 2.0 framework if it's not already on your PC) - see below;

Suddensource Prerequisites

Download the Suddensource Prerequisites here. These need to be unzipped on your PC or network then installed by running 'SETUP.EXE'.

MS Office Requirements

All our dot Net Windows applications require your installation of MS Office to include '.NET Programmability Support'. This is part of the normal MS Office installation and is installed if you do a 'Full' installation of Office, but not if you do a 'Typical' one. Our programs all require that this component is available to 'Run from My Computer'.

To set this up, you, or your administrator should:

bullet

Go into Control panel;

bullet

Find ‘Microsoft Office [something] Edition 2003’ or ‘Microsoft Office [something] 2007 as appropriate;

bullet

Select ‘Change’ (or right-click and click 'Change' if using Windows Vista);

bullet

When the change program dialog appears, select ‘Add or Remove features’;

bullet

If using Office 2003, this appears:

bullet

Select 'advanced customisation of applications'.

bullet

Select the '.NET Programmability Support' option, as in the following pictures.

bullet

The pictures show the Excel options, but according to Microsoft you need to install it for all the Office programs you have installed (six in this example).

bullet

Note that the '.NET Programmability Support' option is not first in the list for each Office application.

If using Office 2007 you will be taken straight to the options screen.

Before:

Right:

bullet

Ensure you select 'Run from My Computer' (above) and not 'Installed on First Use' (below).

Wrong:

Doing this is a pain but necessary. It would have been avoided if the original installation had been “full” instead of “typical”.

The screens for Office 2007 look like this, but the principle is the same:
