Upload Spreadsheet Press the icon with the yellow pencil, or use File -> Open Budget Spreadsheet. You will be asked to open a budget spreadsheet you have already created, and then you will see this screen. Note that (as long as you have previously saved and closed your spreadsheet) you can arrive at the same place by clicking the 'Open and Post' tab on the screen and pressing the 'Open' button.
To upload new or revised budgets select (highlight) the cells you wish to upload, or return to this program and then press the 'Select' button to select all available cells. Note: pressing 'Select' will also reset all column widths so that you don't see Excel's familiar "########" which means the cells are too narrow. To upload the budget, return to this program and press the 'Post' button. This will load the data as displayed in the Excel sheet into the Dream database. Each selected cell is processed in turn. The data in each cell creates a separate Dream document. The progress indicator will show you how far into the process you are. Note that posting the budget for a second time will be slower as existing budgets have to be checked and deleted first. The only mode of operation at present is that any existing budget documents are deleted (via the DLL) before a new budget document is posted to Dream, again via the DLL. Note that Dream itself reverses existing budgets if you zero an entry, whereas this module deletes the existing budget documents before adding a new budget document. The myriad options will be enabled in future releases of the program. |
